Lydia Jengo: 2 Keys to Engagement and Retention in 2022 (#48)

Skilled in travel, hotel, and hospitality, Lydia Jengo is an HR professional who cultivates leaders in organizations through mentoring, coaching, and counseling, with a special focus on training and talent retention. She is also the mother and founder of AWOGA Ministry, which is currently supporting 80 children between the ages of 4 and 10 in Tanzania. She sums up her experience as “centered efforts to hire, train, retain talents, and promote individuals by stretching their capacities, hence increasing organizational success.”

Today, Lydia joins me to change the common negative attitude towards succession planning. She notes the power of taking the time to train, mentor, coach, and understand the strengths and weaknesses of your employees. She distinguishes between delegation and empowerment and shares why it’s important to let your employees fail. She notes that your employees will never become you and explains why that’s okay, and she shares the three keys to leadership.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today if I did not allow my employees to become who they are.”
